Work from home? Remember the kids

After reading the Mr. Money Mustache article,”The Self Educating Child”, I had a couple of thoughts.

You might see some of your friends or co-workers letting their kids homeschool or cyberschool instead of physically going back to school.

This may well be the wave of the future. I predict (you can steal my prediction!) that many more kids will do this. Maybe they are exceptional and bored in school. Or they get picked on. Or they don’t feel like they fit in.

What does this mean for their parents? Can they FINALLY stop obsessing over the school district they live in? Or maybe they move! Downsize to a cheaper neighborhood.

If they go to private school, it’s obvious how you save money using this strategy. But if the kids are in a public school, you only save money being in a different school district or smaller house.

Is that true? No, you save on transportation. Clothes. Your utilities might be higher.

Also, if your child is home, maybe they do a job as well. It could be a work-from-home job, but it’s probably going to be the same McJob you may have worked as a kid.
